Ginter joins Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund have completed the signing of German defender Matthias Ginter from Bundeliga club SC Freiburg on a five-year deal.

He started every game for Freiburg as they finished 14th in the Bundesliga last season and was also a part of the World Cup winning team of Germany this year.

The centre-back is moving to Signal Iduna Park for a reported fee of £8 million.

The Freiburg player joined the club in January 2012 and the talented 20-year-old has gone on to establish a reputation as one of German football's most promising young guns.

His form at his previous club caught the eye of Germany coach Joachim Loew and he included him in his final 23-man squad for the month-long tournament in Brazil.

"This is a dream come true for me. I have always been a Dortmund fan and will now get the chance to wear the jersey of my favourite team," Ginter said.

He joins Neven SuboticSokratis Papastathopoulos and Germany teammate Mats Hummels as Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp's centre-back options.
