Spurs, Wigan want de la Red
Tottenham and Wigan Athletic are both chasing Getafe's attacking midfielder Ruben de la Red. The ex-Real Madrid youngster is very highly rated in his homeland, and Juande Ramos is reportedly keen to link up with his fellow countryman.
During his time at Real Madrid, Fabio Capello brought de la Red into the first team squad and gave him his opportunity. However, after a period of time his opportunities at Real were limited, and a move to Primera Liga rivals Getafe beckoned.
Getafe's form improved and coincided with the emergence of de la Red as a top class midfielder.
Juande Ramos was known to be interested in bringing de la Red to Sevilla before he joined Getafe, and although Real Madrid have a buy-back option on de la Red; Real are not interested in taking this up.
Tottenham will be likely to have to fork out over £3.5 million for a player that actually played against Spurs in the UEFA Cup earlier in the season.
