Sporting Lisbon good option for Nani: Ferguson

Former boss Alex Ferguson feels return to Sporting Lisbon would be good for Luis Nani

Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has heaped praise on winger Luis Nani and insists the player will shine for Sporting Lisbon.

The 27-year-old was brought in to Manchester United from the Portugal club by the Scottish manager in 2007, but returned to his former club on a season long loan this summer.

The Portuguese international was a first team regular under Ferguson, and his successor David Moyes, but was side-lined by new manager Louis van Gaal, who reportedly asked the player to look for a move away from Old Trafford after making 228 appearances for the Red Devils and netting the ball 40 times.

But Ferguson believes with the lack of footballing chances at the Theatre of Dreams, the move was a good option for Nani, and has backed him to have a good season with the Primeira Liga side.

“It's a good option, at Sporting he will have the space to play and at Manchester United this would not happened”, the 72-year-old was quoted as saying by Portuguese daily O  Jogo.

“He will have a good season.

"He is a fantastic talent”, he added.
