Fredrik Ljungberg joins Mumbai City FC
Former Arsenal legend Fredrik Ljungberg confirmed that he has joined Indian Super League side Mumbai City FC earlier today.
The Swedish international, who last played for Japanese club Shimizu S-Pulse in 2012 before announcing his retirement, will now make a comeback with the Indian outfit, and has been signed as Mumbai’s marquee player just days after they brought in Nikolas Anelka.
“Just signed with Mumbai City FC. Gonna be some exciting months ahead! Looking forward to it”, Ljungberg wrote on his Twitter account.
The 37-year-old has made 313 appearances for the Gunners across all competitions scoring on 71 occasions and winning the Premier League twice.
The winger has also played for Chicago Fire and Seattle Sounders in the Major League Soccer, and has been a part of Scottish side Celtic and English club West Ham United.
The player would now be hoping to shine for the Mumbai Franchisee, when the inaugural season of the ISL kicks off from 12th October as the Peter Reid managed side takes on Atletico De Kolkata in the opening game.
