Liverpool cult hero heading to Southampton?

Southampton could make a January move for Fenerbahce striker Dirk Kuyt in the upcoming transfer window.

The Saints have made a fantastic start to the league season, and currently find themselves in third place in the table with 16 points.

Manager Ronald Koeman is believed to be keen on strengthening his strike force with an experienced striker during the winter transfer window, and considers the former Red star as the perfect player to fit the bill.

According to The Mirror, Koeman could secure the services of the 34-year-old on a cut-price deal in the New Year, with his existing contract at the Turkish club set to expire at the end of the season.

Kuyt notched up 71 goals in 285 games for Liverpool between 2006 and 2012.
