Everton join the chase for Nani

New Everton manager Ronald Koeman is weighing up a move for former Manchester United winger Nani, according to reports in the English press.

The Daily Mail claim that, while Everton are not favourites to sign the 99-cap Portuguese international, Koeman has asked the club to look into the possibility of bringing him to Goodison Park this summer.

Valencia and Inter Milan are also interested in acquiring Nani's services, with the Spanish club believed to be leading the race for his signature.

The high interest in Nani is largely due to the fact that there is a £6.5 million release clause written into the player's Fenerbahce contract.

Despite struggling to find a consistent level of performance during his eight-year stay at Old Trafford, the versatile Portuguese was excellent for Fener last season, scoring 12 goals and registering nine assists, after getting his floundering career back on track while on loan at his former club Sporting CP during the 2014-15 season.

Nani is currently on international duty with Portugal at the UEFA European Championship in France, where his two goals from three group stage matches has helped his nation progress to the first knockout round.

Any decision on Nani's future will likely be put on hold until he returns from the the Euros, but for the relatively cheap price of £6.5 million, there will be no shortage of suitors for the enigmatic 29-year-old.
