Sanabria's agent claims Spurs contact

Reports emerging in the Italian media claim that Tottenham Hotspur are considering a swoop for AS Roma striker Antonio Sanabria, and the player's agent has admitted that he has been in contact with the North London club.

"There has been some contact, but we’ll have to evaluate with Roma." Sanabria's agent Raúl Verdú told Tuttomercatoweb. "Right now the lad belongs to the Giallorossi, and I’ll speak with [sporting director Walter] Sabatini to decide how to move."

Sanabria spent last season on loan in La Liga with Sporting Gijon and was particularly impressive, scoring 11 goals as he helped the promoted club narrowly avoid relegation.

The 20-year-old Paraguayan is a former FC Barcelona youth academy player but he was unable to progress into the first-team, instead leaving the Catalan club to join Serie A in 2014, joining Roma via Sassuolo.

But the 6-cap Paraguay international found playing time hard to come by in the Italian capital and was loaned out for the entirety of last season.

Sanabria's performances for Sporting last season drew plaudits as he was a major factor in the club's successful fight against relegation.

Spurs are in the market for a striker this summer, with Harry Kane carrying the majority of the goal-scoring burden at White Hart Lane, and Sanabria has recently emerged as a candidate to bolster their attacking options.
