Christian Benteke agrees terms with Crystal Palace

Palace near Benteke deal

Liverpool striker Christian Benteke has settled personal terms with Crystal Palace ahead of his proposed switch this summer. The Belgian was restricted to just 14 league starts for the Reds last term.

The 25-year-old joined the Reds from Aston Villa last year and was a regular fixture in the starting line-up under former boss Brendan Rodgers.

However, with the appointment of Jurgen Klopp, he struggled to firm a regular place in the first-team with the likes of Roberto Firmino, Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi being preferred ahead of him for the centre-forward position.

According to The Mirror, the Eagles have managed to finalize terms over a contract with Benteke, and it only remains for the club to agree on a price for his transfer.

Alan Pardew's side are currently offering a club-record sum of £31.5m, but the Reds remain confident of recouping at least £32m from their asset.

Should the deal go through, Benteke would be Palace's highest-paid player by a fair margin.

Palace have already completed the signings of Steve Mandanda, Andros Townsend and James Tomkins in the transfer window.
