Danny Drinkwater inks fresh five-year deal at Leicester City

Drinkwater commits future to the English champions

England international Danny Drinkwater has penned a new contract to keep him at Leicester City until the summer of 2021. The midfielder played a key role for the Foxes as they lifted their first ever Premier League crown last term.

The 26-year-old had initially turned down the Foxes' contract offer with rivals Tottenham Hotspur eyeing a move for services.

However, after crunch discussions with the club's hierarchy, he has followed key players Kasper Schmeichel, Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez in committing his future at the King Power Stadium.

"I've loved playing for this club - it's been perfect for me and my career and I want to be here for a long time to come," Drinkwater told the club's official website.

Despite his excellent showing at club level, the former Manchester United graduate missed out on the Three Lions squad for the European championships in France.
