Mkhitaryan set to return for Man Utd against Zorya

The Armenian has not played since the Manchester derby

Henrikh Mkhitaryan is back in training and could be fit for selection for Manchester United’s Europa League tie against Zorya Luhansk on Thursday, according to reports.

The Manchester Evening News is reporting that Manchester United attacking midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan is back in training and could be in contention to play for the Red Devils in their Europa League group stage tie against Zorya Luhansk at Old Trafford on Thursday.

Mkhitaryan has been missing from first team action since he was taken off at half time during the 2-1 derby defeat to Manchester City at Old Trafford on 10 September.

The Armenian international, who was signed for £26 million from Borussia Dortmund this summer, has been ruled out due to a minor injury. But the 27-year-old has reportedly recovered enough to play against Zorya.

United will be looking to kick start their Europa League campaign against the Ukrainian side after suffering a shock defeat to Eredivisie leaders Feyenoord in Rotterdam two weeks ago.

The Red Devils fielded a weakened side against Giovanni van Bronckhorsts men and ended up falling to a 1-0 defeat.

So it will be interesting to see what kind of side manager Jose Mourinho puts out on Thursday.

The Portuguese coach will be without Luke Shaw, Anthony Martial and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Martial and Shaw are both still recovering from injury, while 34-year-old Ibrahimovic is thought to have been given a short holiday after being spotted in Milan yesterday.
