Vile Fans Reduce Player To Tears

Partizan Belgrade player Everton Luiz was reduced to tears yesterday, after being the subject of racist chants from opposition fans throughout their match with rivals Rad Belgrade.

Every time that Luiz touched the ball, he was bombarded with racial abuse and monkey chants by the Rad supporters, who also had a banner which aimed abuse at the Brazilian.

Partizan Belgrade won the game 1-0, and at the full time whistle Luiz's frustration got the better of him, as he gestured to the Rad supporters, which lead to a small brawl which involved players and coaching staff.

After the match, Luiz said he was most shocked by the attitude of Rad Belgrade themselves, claiming that they seemed to "support that type of behaviour." The Brazilian's manager Marko Nikolic has said that this is "a return to the reality of Serbian football."

It is not the first time that Serbian football has been in the headlines regarding racism in recent years, the national team had a Euro 2012 qualifier against Italy abandoned due to racial abuse from the crowd, and in 2012, Tottenham's Danny Rose, on England Under21 duty at the time, was subjected to a barrage of racial abuse during their win in Serbia.

Although incidents have been reduced in recent times, there is no doubt that racism is still present in football, and it will be something that authorities will have to clamp down on to assure that it is fully removed from the game.
