Ranieri to become Watford's next manager?

Former Leicester City and Chelsea boss Claudio Ranieri could make a swift return to English management with Watford in the summer.

The Italian head coach was a surprise pick for the Foxes job in the summer of 2015 after Nigel Pearson was unceremoniously sacked from the role under controversial circumstances.

He had therein built up his squad with the likes of N'Golo Kante and Shinji Okazaki, and the Foxes went on a stunning run which saw them lift their maiden Premier League title last term.

Nine months later, Ranieri was not able to produce a similar feat with the east Midlands club, and this urged the hierarchy to part ways with his services with the club lingering near the relegation places.

The Foxes have since salvaged their season under caretaker Craig Shakespeare who has managed to push his side clear of the dreaded drop.

According to The Sun, Ranieri has been tipped to return to Premier League football after having snubbed the opportunity of managing Nice next term.

Watford have decided to end his association with Walter Mazzarri at the end of the campaign, and Ranieri looks a likely candidate to takeover the reigns at Vicarage Road.

The Hornets have achieved the 40-point mark required for Premier League safety, but their owners are said to want the club to push for a top-half finish next season.
