Leicester City are reportedly planning a cut-price deal for Hull City's Harry Maguire, who has just 12 months left on his current contract.

The 24-year-old had impressed at the back for the Tigers during the 2016/17 season, but this was not enough to keep them in the top flight.

Maguire has now declined a fresh contract beyond next season, and there is every likeliness that he would leave this summer with the Tigers looking to acquire a reasonable sum from his sale.

According to The Mirror, the Foxes are in pole position to sign the central defender with the future of club captain Wes Morgan in doubt.

Morgan is currently contracted at the King Power until the summer of 2019, but he could still be tempted to join Newcastle United whose manager Rafa Benitez is willing to offer a significant wage hike.

Both Morgan and Robert Huth are approaching the latter stages of their careers, and the Foxes are in desperate need of a younger defender capable of committing to the long-term.

Maguire, who managed 29 league appearances for Hull City this term, is also on the radar of north London giants Tottenham Hotspur.
