French striker M'Baye Niang has reportedly stated his desire to return to AC Milan once his loan spell at Watford concludes in the summer.

The Rossoneri forward linked up with the Hornets in the second half of the season with a view to a permanent deal, should he impress at Vicarage Road.

Niang netted two goals in 15 league starts under Walter Mazzarri, but he is still said to be unsettled with life in England.

According to Sky Sports News, the 22-year-old has texted club owner Gino Pozzo in order to reveal his desire to return to Italy.

Watford have the option of buying Niang for a £10.8m sum in the summer, but they are likely to snub the offer due to the player's reluctance to prolong his Premier League stay.

Niang, who has previously represented France at the youth level, has not quite matched his credentials in recent seasons, and this has seen him fall down the pecking order at the San Siro.
