Turkish club Besiktas are reportedly interested in bringing Wayne Rooney to the club and still rate the England forward as a top quality player.

Wayne Rooney is widely expected to leave this summer after playing a bit-part in Jose Mourinho's team this season. Mourinho does not think the forward is good enough to start for United and has publicly stated that Rooney will not start as many games as he likes.

The striker has still managed to score eight goals and register 10 assists despite his limited number of starts.

Boyhood club Everton appears to be the favorite to sign Rooney and clubs in China are also preparing big-money contracts for him.

However, Turkish new sites Fanatik and Sporx have reported that Besiktas is also interested in bringing the player to the Turkish League.

The report stated that Besiktas president Fikret Orman has promised a star signing for the club and has identified Rooney as the man that fits the bill. He is ready to meet United's asking price and adhere to any wage demands Rooney might have to make him a Besiktas player.

Robin Van Persie also previously left Manchester United to go to the Turkish League, playing for Fenerbahce. The striker has enjoyed two relatively prolific seasons there, scoring 36 goals in 82 games.

Mourinho reiterated after Manchester United's Europa League final victory that he will be happy if Rooney stays and it seems the decision to leave will be entirely up to the Manchester United captain.
