French club Lyon have made a formal bid to sign Bayer Leverkusen striker Javier Hernandez with Alexandre Lacazette due to end his association with the club this summer.

The Mexico international has netted 39 goals in his two seasons with Leverkusen, and he is likely to be sold as he approaches the final year of his contract.

According to RMC Sport, Les Gones have tabled a £10.5m bid to sign the experienced forward with Lacazette all but certain to leave the club.

Lyon finished in a disappointing fourth place with 67 points, and they will have to adjust to Europa League football for next season.

Lacazette has managed to amass over 20 goals in each of his last four years at Les Gones, and he is now on course to realise a move to Atletico Madrid, who are still awaiting judgement on their transfer ban.

Hernandez recently became his country's all-time goalscorer as he bagged a goal in his side's 2-1 friendly defeat to Croatia at Los Angeles.
