Ferdinand happy to be captain
Man Utd defender Rio Ferdinand has revealed he is absolutely delighted to have been named England captain for the first time for the Three Lions' game against France in St. Denis on Wednesday evening.
"It is a fantastic honour and an achievement in itself to be named England captain," Ferdinand told Sky Sports. "As a kid you grow up wanting to play for England and to lead your country.
“Now I have been given the honour to fulfil these dreams, so definitely I am very happy."
The Manchester United defender has already reportedly revealed an interest in being Fabio Capello's long term captain; ahead of Steve Gerrard and John Terry.
