Pander ready for Barca
FC Schalke 04 defender Christian Pander wants to prove his big match temparament again as FC Barcelona vist the Arena AufSchalke in the Champions League quarter-finals.
Pander has been suffering injuries consistently and had sidelined in last October for four months damaging his knee ligaments. He returned in early March and has missed Schalke's previous Champions league matches including the win over FC Porto.
He is a gifted left-back and can also play in the defensive mid role and is not shy to score goals. He had made a sensational international debut in the Wembley Stadium powering a thunderous drive that knocked out England.
The 24-year old is pleased to have returned on time to play against Barcelona and is certain to start against the Spanish giants. "To score for my country against an England side full of so many good players was amazing. But playing Barcelona in the Champions League is also very special." he said.
The Schalke boss, Mirko Slomka has asked Pander to play in the left midfield as Wetermann had already taken his usual left-back position. Pander is confident that if they stay organised for the entire game and remain solid, they can cause Barcelona problems.
