Villarreal goalkeeper Diego Lopez has signed a new deal that will keep him at the Yellow Submarines until at least 2014. The goalkeeper signed a new 2 year deal; despite interest from Tottenham and various other sides for his services.

"I have always been very comfortable and very happy here. I hope that now the rumours and speculation will finish and I can be more calm and be able to help Villarreal get even better," Lopez said on Tuesday.

"For me it is an honour to play at this club, it makes me proud and I feel very happy.

"Two more seasons have been added to the five I already had and this is what I wanted. I had no problem with this extension, we have understood each other well because I am very happy and I want to continue at this club."
