Manchester City's executive chairman Garry Cook is confident that Brazilian striker Jo will still come to the club. It is understood that there is a £19 million deal on the verge of being pushed through.
"Jo is a player who interests us and we are currently in discussions with CSKA Moscow and his representatives," he told the club's official website.
"We are hopeful of progress.
"I have spoken personally to Sir David and we are keeping in contact with the Premier League on the issue.
"Manchester City is fully aware of the rules regarding third-party ownership of players and any transfers will be completed to Premier League regulations."
