Celtic have made the loan signing of Giorgios Samaras from Manchester City permanent. It is understood that the Greek striker was given the opportunity despite Gordon Strachan recently hinting he would not sign the former Heerenveen man.

”I am really happy with this move and I think both sides are really happy,” Samaras told the club’s official website. ”I wanted to stay here, Celtic wanted to keep me here and both sides are happy with this transfer.

”Last season was four really enjoyable months for me and a great experience for me to play in both the Scottish Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.
