Despite being better known by football fans as being the site of yet another FA failure, as the National Centre of Excellence continues to be delayed, League Two side Burton Albion are quietly enjoying success and stability.

Having already persuaded former Liverpool trainee James Elison to drop three divisions, boss Paul Peschisolido could have been excused for suggesting this summer has been a success. However, the Brewers boss is not looking to rest on his laurels as pre-season draws to a close.

Twelve months ago, boss Peschisolido was bemoaning his squad's inflexibility but after utilising four formations in a 4-2 pre-season victory over Premier League side West Ham United, Peschisolido has declared himself “delighted” with his side's pre-season progress despite the fact his team are still unlikely to be up there with the favourite odds to win league two.

Part of this delight may also stem from the fact that the Brewers boss appears to be assembling a squad for the future, evidenced by the recent acquisition of three young trialists, including the younger brother of England international Ashley Young.

Despite last season being Peschisolido’s first full campaign in football management, it is clear that he is looking to make his mark on the team, and Brewers fans will be hoping that Peschisolido’s “delight” will translate into a promotion push in the coming season, having comfortably survived their inaugural season in the Football League.

As the Brewers look to consolidate their recent successes in the league, their fans and those who
