Manchester City eye a move for French midfielder

Manchester City have deployed scouts to monitor the progress of young French international midfielder Houssem Aouar. The Lyon starlet has burst into the first-team in this season's campaign and now the Cityzens are believed to be readying a move for the France under-21 international during the upcoming January transfer window.

With City having their best ever start to a Premier League campaign, the board at the club believe that January's transfer window would be better spent on acquiring young talent from across Europe and Olympique Lyonnais player Aouar is amongst the names on Guardiola's shortlist.

Aouar, who came through the ranks at Lyon and forced his way into Lyon's "B" side aged just 17 years old, made his debut last campaign and this season has taken part in 11 Ligue 1 games. Guardiola has even sent his primary scout to watch the 5 foot 7 midfielder in action.

City, who will take on city rivals United this weekend, are looking to build on their impressive form for their visit to Old Trafford and perhaps youngster Aouar will be watching that game from home.  According to the sports books experts, the underdog for the Manchester Derby is going to be the home team everywhere you look. City have already signed some of the best young players from across Europe and adding Aouar will certainly add to that array of talent.

Should the player make a move to City, it is likely to set the club back around 20 million euros.
