Manchester United nearing second summer signing for £25m?

United confident of landing Longstaff

Manchester United are reportedly confident of securing the signature of midfielder Sean Longstaff from Newcastle United this summer.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has shown a keen preference to sign younger players in the current transfer window and the club have already pursued Daniel James from Swansea City.

According to The Mirror, the Red Devils are planning to continue their spending this summer and Longstaff could be the next in line to seal a permanent move to the side.

Longstaff, who is currently recuperating from a knee ligament damage, made just nine appearances during his breakthrough season last term, but that has been sufficient to impress the likes of United.

He is currently valued at around £25m by the Magpies and it will be interesting to see whether he would accept the challenge knowing that a starting spot remains far from guaranteed.

Aside from Longstaff, United have also been associated with a move for Crystal Palace defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka but they are yet to come close to the Eagles' £70m valuation for his services.
