Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte has acknowledged that his team are looking to reach an agreement with Manchester United over the transfer of Romelu Lukaku.

The Belgium international has been heavily linked with the Nerazzurri in the past few weeks but the club have yet to find the breakthrough with regards to the transfer fee.

Speaking in a press conference, Conte confirmed that the club are after the services of the Belgian, though no agreement has been finalised with the Red Devils regarding a transfer.

"For sure, I like this player and I consider him an important player for us to have a good improvement. But, at the same time, there is a market, a transfer market. We know very well which is our situation at this moment," he was quoted by Inter's official website.

Inter have proposed a package of around £60m for the former Everton man but that has fallen short of the Red Devils' £75m price tag for the 26-year-old striker.

Still, the club are expected to continue negotiations with the Premier League giants and there remains the optimism that they can land his signature in the next few weeks.
