Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has said that Manchester United misjudged the situation when they attempted to sign Jadon Sancho this summer.

The England international was the Red Devils' prime target to strengthen the attack, but they could not get a deal over the line before the international transfer window.

Dortmund had clearly mentioned that they would not consider anything less than £108m, but United were simply reluctant to pay the fee citing the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

Hence, the negotiations fell through and Watzke has now said that the Red Devils misjudged the situation thinking that they would be able to sign Sancho for a reduced price.

"[They] misjudged the situation. We would be more willing to compromise. We had a clear line and will continue to do so next summer. In this industry, you can never say that a player is completely unsellable," He told ZDF Sports.

Sancho continues to remain on the radar of the Mancunian giants, but they may have to wait until next summer to land his signature. Dortmund have no plans to part ways with the 20-year-old at the beginning of the year.
