New City keeper targets top four
Manchester City's new addition Marton Fulop is gunning to help his new side finish in the Premier League top four this season.
The Hungarian goalkeeper has arrived at Eastlands on an emergency short-term loan due to the lack of fit keepers at the club.
Injuries to Shay Given and Stuart Taylor meant City were left with only rookie Gunnar Nielsen available, so Roberto Mancini has moved to sign 26-year-old Fulop from Sunderland and he is expected to go straight into the first team.
City are currently sixth in the Premier League and face a battle to get into the Champions League qualification places. They play Aston Villa and Tottenham, their rivals for fourth, in their next two games.
Fulop knows a lot of weight is on his shoulders but he is "happy to come" to the club and help them achieve their goal of Champions League football.
He told the club's website: "I'm ready to play, if I'm selected. I came here to do a job and I'm confident that I can do that. I feel good, and we need a win to get that fourth-place spot, which is so important for the club."
City midfielder Stephen Ireland has also said it is vital the club win their remaining three league games to get the spot in the Premier League top four.
He claims a win against Villa will "set the Spurs game up perfectly" and put them in great stead to qualify for the Champions League.
This year's Champions League odds now make Internazionale favourites for the tournament after they beat Barcelona.
Meanwhile, Spain remain many people's 2010 World Cup tips despite the fact a number of key players are struggling with injuries.
