FA Cup quarter-final draw: Lincoln City to play Arsenal

Lincoln City will play Arsenal in the FA Cup quarter-finals as reward for their stunning fifth-round victory over Burnley.

The fifth-tier club became the first non-league team in 103 years to reach the last eight with the biggest shock of the competition so far on Saturday.

Holders Manchester United play Chelsea, and Millwall, who beat Premier League champions Leicester, play Tottenham.

Middlesbrough face Manchester City or Huddersfield, who drew 0-0 on Saturday.

Arsenal reached the last eight with a 2-0 win at Sutton.

The replay between Manchester City and Huddersfield is provisionally set for Tuesday, 28 February at Etihad Stadium.

The quarter-final matches will take place on the weekend of Saturday, 11 March.

  • Chelsea v Manchester United
  • Middlesbrough v Huddersfield/Manchester City
  • Tottenham v Millwall
  • Arsenal v Lincoln

There are 88 places between National League leaders Lincoln and Arsenal.

Lincoln boss Cowley said his side had achieved a "football miracle" after beating Burnley 1-0 at Turf Moor with an 89th-minute winner.

It is the first time in the club's 133-year history that they have reached the quarter-finals.

Their next match is away to North Ferriby United on Tuesday, while they are also still in the FA Trophy and play Boreham Wood for a semi-final place on Saturday.

Queens Park Rangers, who joined the Football League in 1920, were the last non-league team to make the FA Cup last eight, in 1914. They were beaten 2-1 by Liverpool in their quarter-final at Anfield.

    Huge congrats to Lincoln, what a story! Not sure who I'd prefer to play were I Lincoln; away to Arsenal guarantees a ton of money in gate receipts/tv showing, while Sutton gives them an incredible chance of reaching the Semi Final. Either way a remarkable achievement!

    so Lincoln City will be playing their 7th FA Cup tie this season, whereas Chelsea and Man Utd will be playing their 4th.

    Westfields made the 1st Round (their 7th tie).

    Lincoln City & Sutton United have done more in the FA Cup this season than any Premier League side will ever have to

    Really happy with the draw as a Lincoln fan. Strangely I think we would fare better against Arsenal (or Arsenal reserves) than Sutton.

    Perhaps its just me but it doesn't seem right to draw for the next round before all the games are actually played (replays notwithstanding obviously)

    iam an imps fan this cup run has secured our club money we desperately needed same goes for sutton and lower league club the people who dont respect the national league do it at your peril the comments from people saying lower league teams shouldnt be in it why not the top teams dont want it so someone has to and the ones moaning are probably , Burley Brighton, and ipswich fans up the mighty imps

    Surely the dream is Sutton to draw with Arsenal replay then lose sending money in Suttons direction then Lincoln through to play spuds in the semis to meet Man U in the final, which they will of course win ;-) as a tractor boy we've done our bit!

    The FA Cup has only been devalued by people who think the premier league is everything, typically those who had never watched football before 1992. Real football supporters know this is the greatest tournament in the world and this year it just keeps getting better.

    All I can say is hopefully the players don't go into it with that attitude. 3G pitch and a hostile atmosphere means it isn't a gimme although Arsenal should win.

    The free pass that prem league teams get into the 3rd round should be scrapped so that we get more lower league v prem league games. This rubbish that prem league players are tired is utter rubbish. They are just overpaid and too lazy to want to leave their mansions to bother to play twice a week regularly. Don't see Lincoln or Millwall resting players.

    @51...There is (to the best of my knowledge) still an FA rule stating that clubs must play the strongest/best team they have available, injury/suspension permitting. Problem is it is not enforced because the EPL will not hold the clubs to account for fielding weaker sides. This is due, in some cases to Euro commitments. Mid/bottom-table clubs have no excuse, but the EPL rule the game now so tough.
