Aston Villa fans think their side could be in the market for another Brentford player soon.

Villa signed Ollie Watkins from the Bees for £28 million in September, with Dean Smith returning to his old side for the striker who he signed from Exeter City in 2017.

Smith had also been linked with Said Benrahma, who has since moved to West Ham United and left-back Rico Henry while Ezri Konsa was signed by Smith last year.

Neal Maupay, who ended up going to Brighton and Hove Albion, was heavily linked with Villa last summer so there is quite the history between the two clubs in terms of players being linked and transfers getting done.

Ivan Toney, Watkins' replacement, scored his sixth and seventh goals in four games for Brentford tonight.

Toney netted the opening strike in the Bees' Championship clash with Sheffield Wednesday tonight after only seven minutes before adding a second on the half-hour mark.

The former Newcastle United man was signed for around £10m from Peterborough United in the summer and has hit the ground running in West London.

And Villa fans, perhaps cheekily, think he is destined for Villa Park.

"Looking forward to signing Toney for £35m in 2022," one fan said.

Another added: "I'm guessing Toney will be a Villa player in about one or two seasons," while another said: "I was thinking that."

"Just called up Brentford, they want £30m for him," a fourth fan added.

"We buying Toney next year then or what?" another asked.
