Players come and go at football clubs at an alarming rate in the modern game and it's hard for individuals to make a mark and earn the affection of the fans; especially if you're a second-choice right-back.

But over two seasons and 32 appearances for Bristol City, Eros Pisano achieved just that. In-part to his tough-tackling and powerful gallops down the right flank but most of all because of his character and warmth of personality.

There was also his name ... and the accompanying chant that helped endear him to the Robins faithful, which is why there will be several wry smiles across Bristol with news of his latest club.

Having been released by City last summer, the 32-year-old was unveiled on Thursday at Serie B side Pisa which is nominative determinism in full effect; akin to Arsenal Wenger at Arsenal and the wonderfully-named Wolfgang Wolf, who served as Wolfsburg manager from 1998-2003.

And, of course, not forgetting Bradley Stokes who signed for Bradley Stoke FC last season.

Pisano can now join that proud list as he looks to guide Pisa away from relegation trouble in Italy's second tier and it was no surprise to see plenty of Robins fans celebrating the move on social media, which was announced by wife Giulia.

Nick Downden: "Great news Eros will be supporting you from Bristol."

Darren Pulham: "This is great news."

Patricia James Mowat: "That’s wonderful and how appropriate! Congratulations to you both."

BCFC Oliver the Dog: "Top guy - always had time for the supporters, especially the kids - Good luck both."
