Giroud defends Koscielny

Olivier Giroud has given his thoughts on Laurent Koscielny’s situation at Arsenal.

"I feel very sad for him because he’s a great person and the media wants to give a bad image of him,” the Chelsea striker said.

"I’m not at the club, I don’t know what really happened – but one thing for sure is Lolo is very hurt by what’s happening and he’s an emotional person.

"You cannot make a judgement when you don't have all the clues. I'm pretty sure we don't know everything in this situation."

Hakim Ziyech…

Arsenal have been told they can sign Hakim Ziyech by former Gunner Marc Overmars who is currently working with the playmaker at Ajax.

Overmars is a director with the Dutch giants and has taken the bold step of suggesting one of his best players should move on for the good of his career.

Having spent three years at Arsenal, the former winger believes Ziyech, 26, would be a good fit for his old club and says he would be a better option than Mesut Ozil.

“I am a bit surprised that it is still so quiet around Hakim,” the Dutchman said. “I think Hakim Ziyech is better than Mesut Ozil. I would tell Arsenal: ‘sell him and you will get Hakim for half the price’. But they didn't listen to me. So it could just be that he stays with Ajax.”

Laurent Koscielny latest

Arsenal will allow Laurent Koscielny to leave - but only if his valuation is met.

It is understood Koscielny, whose contract runs until next year, made it clear to the club that he wished to be released this summer in order to sign for another club.

But Arsenal stood firm and refused to grant the former France international a free transfer.

Now, Sky Sports say the Gunners will sanction their captain’s sale if his £8.8million price-tag is met.

Neil Lennon on Kieran Tierney

Celtic manager Neil Lennon insists the club are comfortable with their stance on Kieran Tierney after rejecting a second bid from Arsenal.

The Hoops are thought to value the left-back at £25million with the structure of the latest bid failing to tempt them to sell the Scotland international.

Lennon said: "The club's valuation of Kieran has not been met and until then we don't have a discussion to make."

When asked whether he expected Arsenal to return with a third offer, Lennon said: "I don't know what Arsenal's financial state is. I know what ours is and we are quite comfortable with the situation at the moment.

"There has been a second bid, the bid has been rejected and it's as you were."

No change for Gareth

The agent of Gareth Bale has rubbished talk of a return to Tottenham.

Zinedine Zidane has told the Welshman that he’s not in his plans for the forthcoming season.

And that has led to claims the 30-year-old could make an incredible move back to the Premier League with Spurs.

But his agent Jonathan Barnett told the Daily Mail: “Nothing has changed.”

Wanted - Everton

Unai Emery has reportedly sent representatives to Brazil to conduct a medical on transfer target Everton Soares, ahead of a proposed £36m move to the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal have sent medical staff to Brazil in order to assess the physical condition of transfer target Everton, according to Brazilian journalist Sergio Araujo.

The Gunners have been linked with a £36m move for the Gremio forward, and it’s believed that the deal is close to being finalised.

The 23-year-old has already confirmed that an offer is on the table for him, despite Gremio denying the claim.

Arsenal representatives will arrive in Porto Alegre today in order to try and get the deal over the line, says Araujo.

Laurent Koscielny talks

Arsenal head coach Unai Emery has revealed he spoke to Laurent Koscielny three times in a forlorn attempt to get his captain on the club's pre-season tour.

The Gunners announced last week that the former France international had refused to fly to the United States and his decision came after his request to have his contract terminated and find a new club was rejected, with disciplinary proceedings due as a result.

"He started training with us this pre-season and I spoke with him three times for his situation," Emery said. "We wanted him to come with us on this tour but he decided to stay. Now it is a matter for the club and for the player.

"We spoke with a good spirit for both the team and him but this is his decision, only his decision. He's speaking only with the club."

Dani Ceballos to Arsenal

Arsenal are close to signing Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos.

That’s according to Spanish newspaper Marca, who claim Unai Emery personally persuaded Ceballos to join.

Ceballos, 22, had offers on the table from Premier League rivals Tottenham and AC Milan.

But the Spaniard has decided to join Arsenal on a season-long loan in a deal that could be wrapped up before he was scheduled to return from holiday on July 22.

Another Real raid?!

Arsenal are considering an ambitious double swoop for Real Madrid duo Lucas Vazquez and Keylor Navas.

Zinedine Zidane’s side have spent over £270million on signings this summer with Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic, Eder Militao, Ferland Mendy and Rodrygo arriving.

And according to Spanish reports, Real Madrid are happy to offload several of their fringe players with Unai Emery paying close attention.

It’s said that Arsenal will move for Vazquez and Navas for a combined £54million - with Emery convinced he can sign at least one of the pair.

The final bid…

Arsenal will make a take-it-or-leave-it offer for Kieran Tierney – but won’t go above the £25million that has already been tabled.

The Scottish champions turned down the Gunners’ second bid, which they submitted on Friday.

The deal was potentially worth £25m but the Parkhead hierarchy were unhappy with the way it was structured and the fact that it included a number of add-ons to get to the top-line figure.

Celtic want the bulk of any potential transfer fee paid up front, with the add-ons guaranteed and with a sell-on clause before they would even consider sanctioning a deal for their prized asset.
