Morgan Schneiderlin was reportedly stopped from moving to Tottenham as Jose Mourinho considers him as part of his plans this season.

The Manchester United midfielder was enquired over by Spurs as they looked to bolster their squad at the close of the window.

But Mauricio Pochettino's side were rejected in their approach, according to the Daily Mail, and eventually signed Newcastle's Moussa Sissoko instead late on transfer deadline day.

Schneiderlin had a steady start to his United career but has not nailed down a regular role in their first XI.

But with Europa League football ahead this term, Mourinho blocked a potential transfer, although Spurs are expected to return to the subject in January.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan suffered an injury concern on international duty.

The Armenia star sustained a bad clash in their game against the Czech Republic, forcing the attacking midfielder to be withdrawn.

United are now left anxiously waiting to see if their summer signing from Borussia Dortmund faces any time out.

Armenia face Denmark in a World Cup qualifier on Sunday, and it remains to be seen if Mkhitaryan will be fit for the clash.

And with United's Manchester derby awaiting after the break, Mourinho will want the 27-year-old fully fit.
