Arsenal Transfer Round-Up: Spending reaches nearly £100m as 14 exit Emirates

ARSENAL opted against bringing in any new faces on transfer deadline day after Arsene Wenger’s spending reached almost £100m over the summer.

Arsenal’s Mustafi hilariously trolls supporters

The Gunners announced the signings of both Lucas Perez and Shkodran Mustafi on Tuesday.

The pair cost a combined total of £52m with former Deportivo La Coruna star Lucas the man charged with leading Arsenal’s frontline this season.

Wenger was keen to add more firepower up front to accompany Olivier Giroud, having made failed approaches for Jamie Vardy and Alexandre Lacazette.

With the deadline looming, Arsenal switched their attention to 27-year-old Lucas following his solid season in La Liga.

Meanwhile in defence, Per Mertesacker and Gabriel’s long term injuries left Wenger desperate for experience at the back.

Mustafi was chased for some time and the Gunners finally agreed a fee with Valencia to bring the Germany international to north London.
