sold Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United yesterday, while Henrikh Mkhitaryan headed in the other direction.

The Gunners are also hoping to tie up a deal for Borussia Dortmund star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

However, reports have suggested the potential move has stalled, with Dortmund adamant they want to sign his replacement first before parting company with him.

While Wenger has done his business relatively early this time around, he’s still not a fan of the winter window.

He said: “I must say this transfer period has been a bit more disturbing than ever in the middle of the season, and I'm quite happy when the period is over."

Despite losing Sanchez, Wenger is happy to get Mkhitaryan through the door.

He added: “Mkhitaryan can play on the wing or in midfield, so I believe he can play very well in many positions.

"That can help us as well because he can play together with Ozil as well as playmaker, so overall it's a good move.
