Ibrox Exclusive: Paul Robinson reacts as PL giants plot audacious swoop for Rangers ace

Paul Robinson has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have got “no chance” of landing Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos during the current transfer window.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-England and Spurs goalkeeper suggested that the Gers’ battle with bitter rivals Celtic for the Scottish Premiership title means that a deal would be particularly difficult to complete in the coming days.

Football Insider has revealed this week that Spurs have joined Inter Milan in plotting an audacious late-window swoop for the Columbia international after Harry Kane underwent surgery.

But Robinson thinks that his former club may have to go looking elsewhere to replace the England captain

“No chance of getting him in this window, not with Rangers as close as they are to mounting a challenge on Celtic,” he told Football Insider.

“He’s a top player, he’s a goalscorer. He’s proven that he’s a got a bit of edge to him as well, which I like, but I think it would be an extremely difficult deal to get over the line in January.

“I think that the player himself would probably want to stay where he is.”

The 23-year-old has been in scintillating form for the Gers so far this term, hitting 28 goals in all competitions at a rate of one every 84 minutes.

He is currently serving a three match ban after being sent off in the Gers’ Old Firm win over Celtic at Parkhead last month.

Rangers attacker Alfredo Morelos says sorry

Football Insider previously revealed the Ibrox chiefs had met with Morelos’ representatives to tell them that he would not be sold under any circumstances this month.

Both manager Steven Gerrard and chairman Dave King have also stated publicly that the club have no intention of letting their star man exit before next Friday’s transfer deadline.
