Exclusive: Leeds open preliminary talks over sale of 27-year-old first teamer

Leeds United have opened preliminary talks with Fulham over the potential summer sale of Adam Forshaw, Football Insider understands.
The two clubs are in contact over the transfer of the 27-year-old on a permanent deal as the Londoners look to reshape their midfield following relegation back to the Championship.
A Leeds source has told Football Insider the club are willing to discuss selling Forshaw as they look to keep their finances under control ahead of another campaign in the second tier.
It is likely they will want to recoup the £4.5million spent in January of last year to sign Forshaw from Middlesbrough, given that he has another three years left on his contract.
Fulham want to sign battle-hardened players proven in the Championship and believe the Leeds first teamer fits the bill.
He made 19 league starts among 32 appearances in all competitions in an injury-disrupted 2018-19 campaign, and has played in 44 matches since moving to Elland Road.
Marcelo Bielsa has spoken warmly of Forshaw’s attitude and ability, but the club could be willing to cash in on him rather than fellow midfielder Kalvin Phillips, who is wanted by multiple Premier League clubs.
The Everton academy product has previously had extensive spells at Brentford and Boro, and has played in the top three divisions in England.
