Revealed: Liverpool land stunning £80m windfall

Liverpool are set to pocket a £80million windfall for reaching the Champions League semi-finals, based on confirmed Uefa figures.

Football Insider can reveal the club’s quarter-final triumph over Porto on Wednesday night will guarantee the Merseysiders a fresh cash boost of £10.4million on top of the revenue they were already set to receive for participation in Europe’s elite competition this season.

Uefa Champions League distribution data for the 2018-19 season shows Liverpool will receive prize money of £47.5m for reaching the last four and this will be bumped up by their share of the TV pool and the club’s Uefa coefficient ranking, a new distribution method introduced this season.

Liverpool have a relatively high Uefa coefficient ranking them 12th of the teams competing in this season’s Champions League, securing them £20m.

They will also net around £12.5m from their share of the TV pool, which is partly based on their position in last season’s Premier League.

Liverpool’s £80m windfall has already exceeded the £67.6m the club earned for reaching the final of last season’s Champions League, with the increased prize money paying immediate dividends.
