Transfer deadline day summer 2019: The deals done so far

Reports linking Gareth Bale with a return to Tottenham Hotspur have been described as “rubbish” by the player’s agent.

Spanish newspaper Marca claimed Tottenham were preparing a sensational bid for that the Real Madrid forward.

The report added that the north London club told Real Madrid they would be prepared to pay something in the region of €50-60m for the player they sold in 2013 for £85m.

Bale’s agent, Jonathan Barnett, told talkSPORT that the stories were not true, saying: “I don’t comment on rubbish.”

The Welshman time in Madrid has been plagued by reports that he is unhappy at the club or that they club is unhappy with him.

Current manager Zinedine Zidane has not always been desperate to include Bale in his first team and hinted that he could have played his last game for Real Madrid at the end of the last season.

"I don't know if it's the last game for them or not, I don't know what's going to happen,” Zidane said in May.

Madrid newspapers reported that Bale was ready to leave the club after playing just 53 per cent of available minutes.

A lack of potential suitors has prevented any club approaching Real Madrid with a serious bid. The 29-year-old’s injury history and high wages have put clubs off and a loan deal was seen as the most likely solution as the beginning of the transfer window.

Bale has another three years on his contract in Spain and is content to see it out.
