Chelsea defender Michael Hector will spend the 2017-18 campaign on loan at Hull City, the club have today confirmed.

The 25-year-old spent last season on loan at German side Eintracht Frankfurt where he helped the club reach the German Cup final.

But he won't be returning to Chelsea this term after the club confirmed a season-long loan move for the versatile player who can be deployed in either defence or in midfield.

He will join up with fellow Chelsea player Ola Aina at Hull after the latter sealed a loan switch to the club earlier this month.

The Jamaica international was loaned straight back to the Championship club where he went on to make 35 appearances in the 2015/16 campaign, earning him a return to Chelsea the following year.

But after training with the Blues and then being taken on the club's pre-season tour of Austria and the US by Conte, Chelsea decided to send him back out on loan to German side Eintracht Frankfurt.

He said in an interview back in February that his time in Germany had improved him as a player, and hoped it would earn him a recall to Conte's side.

"I feel that I have improved my passing and defending, but I would have liked to have played a little more as I came to play," he told Goal.

"To play at this level [has been useful], but ultimately, I’d like to play in the Premier League."
