Kalou offered new deal

Kalou offered new deal

13 October 2011 - 19:00

Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has revealed that winger Salomon Kalou has been offered a new deal amidst reports that he would be allowed to run down his contract and speak to other clubs.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal
  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • Kalou has made only two Premier League starts since Villas-Boas became manager, and this is fueled rumours of his departure. However, the manager is keen to keep his player as he sees him as a part of his plans.

"Kalou was offered a contract and hopefully we will continue talks," he told the club's official website.

"In January these players are available to discuss their future. We'll continue talks until we reach an agreement or not.

"The fact that they are emotionally tied to this club - like Nico (Anelka) - too, means we can count on them while they are negotiating. Their loyalty to the club will never be in question."
