Chelsea are set to welcome Michael Essien back to action as soon as December, as the Ghana midfielder looks set to make a rapid recovery to fitness. Chelsea's midfielder ruptured his ACL in July.

The return to action in December will be a welcome boost for Andre Villas-Boas, whose Chelsea team seem to be rocky in defence so far this year.&nbsp;<br />

"Essien is making good progress. We're looking at the end of December, I think," Villas-Boas said.
