The injury to central midfielder Lucas Leiva is a blow to Liverpool's plans this season, according to manager Kenny Dalglish, but insists there is suitable cover for the Brazilian whilst he recovers from his ACL injury.

  • "Every role is important," said Dalglish. "Lucas has had a fair bit of credit and there is not much more we can add to what has happened to him.<br />

"The (defensive midfield) role is important but every single person in the team has an important role to play. We will make our decisions but we won't disclose how we will solve our problems."<br />

Jonjo Shelvey was recalled from Blackpool this week, where he was spending time on loan.
