Sunderland have admitted that a move for Asamoah Gyan will be impossible. The striker had been linked with a return to the Stadium of Light, as Martin O'Neill the new coach hoped to end Gyan's Al-Ain loan spell.
However, Gyan will be forced to see out the remainder of his loan in the United Arab Emirates due to official rules.
The Ghanaian striker had been linked with a move to Sunderland as the Black Cats currently face a struggle in front of goal, with Nicklas Bendtner struggling for goals in recent months.
