Aston Villas Albrighton shuns Rangers move talk

Aston Villa's Albrighton shuns Rangers move talk

15 December 2011 - 13:22

Aston Villa winger Marc Albrighton has laughed off speculation that he would soon be moving to Rangers, and insisted that he is happy to wait for his chance at Villa Park.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • This year Villa manager Alex Mcleish has not given Albrighton a regular first team spot in the Villains' side. Albrighton had therefore been linked with a move north of the border. But the talented winger insists that no move to Rangers will be happening in January.

"I have a mate at Rangers but I won't be going there anytime soon," Albrighton said. "I don't want to think about leaving at the minute. I know things have not been great.

"But I am a Villa boy and I can't think of anything worse than leaving the club that's given me all my games and all my happy moments. One day I may have to leave, and that will be a sad day for me, but at the moment I am concentrating on playing well for Villa.

"I want to fight for my place here and see if I can establish myself and get back to my best here. I don't want to take the easy route. I prefer to do the hard work and the manager told me I was in his plans.''
