Blackburn boss sure he will avoid the axe

21 December 2011 - 10:16

Hapless Blackburn manager Steve Kean insisted that he will remain Rovers' manager for the coming game against Liverpool, despite yesterday's 2-1 defeat to Bolton.

  • Arsenal in the front row to sign Dutch striker

  • Steve Kean has been under enormous pressure to step down at Ewood Park after Rovers' terrible start to the season that sees them rooted to the bottom of the Premier League.

Many reports suggested that defeat to Bolton would be the end of the road for Kean, but the underfire boss insists that is not true: "That's a report that's not correct. I've not got a date when I'm going to meet the owners. I spoke to the owners before the game started."

Kean ensured Sky Sports that he would be in charge for the game against Liverpool on Boxing Day: "I expect to be here on Boxing Day. I would be completely shocked if they decide to replace me, yes.''
