AC Milan beat Fulham to Maxi Lopez signature

AC Milan beat Fulham to Maxi Lopez signature

29 January 2012 - 09:15

Fulham have lost out in the race to signing Argentinian striker Maxi Lopez. The forward has joined AC Milan on loan until the end of the season; at that point the Rossoneri will then be able to sign Lopez from Catania on a permanent basis.

  • Arsenal defender misses training ahead of Man Utd game

  • AC Milan had given Manchester City a deadline of Friday afternoon at 6pm before a deal for Carlos Tevez could be completed, or they would instead look to sign a player from elsewhere. The deadline came and the San Siro giants instead signed Maxi Lopez from their Serie A rivals Catania.

Maxi Lopez joining Milan will come as a very bitter blow to Martin Jol, the Fulham manager, who had hoped to bring in the former Barcelona striker as well. The Cottagers have now decided to focus on signing FC Twente forward Luuk de Jong instead.

Lopez arrives at AC Milan having scored 22 goals in 64 games for "The Rossazzurri", whom he joined from FC Moscow in 2010. At the end of the season, AC Milan can complete a permanent deal for Maxi, but only if the pricetag of 13 million Euros is matched.
