Blackburn eye new Hoilett contract

Blackburn eye new Hoilett contract

17 February 2012 - 02:20

Blackburn manager Steve Kean admitted that talks with Canadian winger Junior Hoilett regarding a new contract are still ongoing. Hoilett had been linked with a move away from Ewood Park during the January transfer window, but opted to stay with the Premier League strugglers until the end of this season.

 • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
 • Man Utd serious about signing Rafael Leao
 • Hoilett has impressed the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham, both of whom are expected to make a move for the player once his contract expires on July 1st.
But manager Steve Kean still remains hopeful that Hoilett could sign a new deal with Rovers.
"We would like to think that the way that he's playing, he's been playing with a spring in his step and he's back to the form that he had before the transfer window opened, so we've not given up on that," said Kean, quoted in the Lancashire Telegraph.
"There's no reason why moving forward we can't agree something and get pen put to paper on the appropriate time. I think what he's got to do is just forget about everything, and just make sure he's playing and performing the way he is.
"We've not given up and if it gets to the end of the season and we are where we think we're going to be, there's no reason why Junior can't agree a contract with us."
