Liverpool director Comolli eager to sign big names

27 February 2012 - 13:09

Liverpool's director of football, Damien Comolli, thinks that the club's recent success in the Carling Cup will be a suitable platform for the Reds to attract a better calibre of footballer to Anfield. The Reds ended a six year barren spell when they won the Carling Cup against Cardiff City on Sunday evening.

  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town
  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal

  • Comolli is responsible for the signing of new players at Anfield, and the Frenchman is confident that Kenny Dalglish's recent success will attract some big stars to the club once the transfer window reopens.

"We already know that there are big players who want to join us next summer because they believe in the project," said Comolli.

"Everybody in Europe knows what Liverpool football club are trying to do.

"Obviously the fact that we're back playing in Europe and we've won the trophy, it's all positive things. There's a very positive vibe around the club around Europe.

"A lot of players I know are very interested about joining the project because it's a very interesting project."
