Fabrice Muamba "sitting up" in hospital

27 March 2012 - 02:03

Bolton midfielder Fabrice Muamba is reportedly sitting up in hospital, and according to his club manager Owen Coyle, the player was able to watch some of his side's victory over fellow strugglers Blackburn at the weekend.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • "He continues to make encouraging progress in his recovery," said a club statement.

Owen Coyle admitted that Muamba was able to watch some of the game on television: "If there is a bit of humour that comes out of that, I am led to believe he fell asleep when it was 2-0."

A statement from the London Chest Hospital read: "Over the weekend, he has been able to sit out of bed for a short time, watch television and has begun to eat."
