Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso looked delighted after he helped his side secure a 2-1 victory over bitter rivals Barcelona last night, and seemingly helped secure his side the La Liga title.
"It's a major victory but not a definitive one," Alonso said. "We have taken an important step forward and now we have to finish it off.<br />
"We controlled the game to perfection and the result is fantastic. Now we have another crucial match on Wednesday.<br />
"Camp Nou is a ground where Barca often win, but we managed to beat a team that many people say is the best in the world.<br />
<p class="last">"We fought with humility and showed we are a great side."<br />
<p class="last">Real Madrid will now prepare for the second leg tie against Bayern Munich in the Champions League, and will hope to wrap up a La Liga title next weekend.
